Desktop –
I have made changes to my Desktop and Microsoft Word for my friend who is visually impaired. On the desktop I changed the icons from medium to large so they are easier to read for the visually impaired. I also have rearranged the icons so that the person knows where everything is easier because there all very close.
Quick Access Toolbar –
I have changed the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) this is the bar at the top of a Microsoft word document which has all little shortcuts for different commands you can use e.g. Spelling and Grammar, Save, Print etc. I also added in some common ones which are used for the visually impaired.
Document –
I changed my background colour of my word document and the text colour so it is easier to read for the visually impaired. I also changed the size of the text in the document so it is easier to read to.
Minimized Ribbon –
I minimized the ribbon in Microsoft Word because the icons are to small in it so I decided just to click the drop down arrow at the top and click minimize the ribbon this focuses just on text then on the actual document.
Narrator –
I went to the start button and went to all programs, then accessories, then ease of access and clicked narrator this is a voice from the computer telling you what your pointer is hovering over. This is very convenient for people hard of seeing.
Magnifier –
I used magnifier which is also in Ease Of Access because this is a great tool magnifying up on the screen so it is easier to read for the visually impaired. It is enlarged for you by just hovering over a certain place on a computer there is certain ways. You can also lens or dock it, these are different ways of viewing.
